Memories are a fragile thing, made timeless by the lens of a camera. We all share a love of photos, but my heart goes a step further.
Growing up I watched as my mom expressed herself through her camera, even developing her own pictures. She passed this love on to me and it has been one constant in a life full of highs and lows.
Today I am a wife, mother, NaNa, dog mommy and so much more. However, my heart still skips a beat when I feel my fingers wrap around the lens of my camera as I anticipate what image from this fleeting life I can capture. A child’s ornery look may be brief, but when I snap the shutter it is preserved for another day and memories happen. Just as when two people have spent a lifetime together, life can get hard at times, but when they look back over the years at moments captured on film, they see a glimpse of the past and see the tenderness, the youthfulness, and the love they started with so long ago.
Landscapes renew my love of nature and the ever-changing imagery. Whether I am at the beach capturing shots of the sunlight bouncing off the waves or my fur baby, Gracie, doing what she does best, digging in the sand, I am accompanied by the sounds of nature. When I can show you a breathtaking scene, but also take your soul there and share with you the sound of the leaves rustling, the bluebirds calling or feel the ocean’s breath then I am blessed.
I began with black and white and still love the rawness, the simplicity of the style. Yet with the beauty of color and with digital enhancements, the opportunities for free expression are boundless. The images I shoot are an extension of who I am.
